Walking around Hipster-town

Saturday I went shopping with a friend in a town called Shimokitazawa. It's a pretty nice place. Lots of windy side streets with awesome little shops and cafes. I'm pretty much in love. Saturday I went in the evening and it was rather bustling with people hanging out at the little restaurants, bars or cafes and shopping around with their friends. Not crazy though by any means.

Today though I went by myself in the afternoon and the vibe was different. Same place, same shops, but way more relaxed/leisurely. It was so relaxing just walking down all the different streets, soaking up the sun and popping into a few shops. It's a very nice spot. :)

Been a while.

It's starting to really warm up here in Japan!
Right now it's  nice but all I can think about is the dreaded August heat.
Noooo.. It's coming...dun dun...dun dun dun dun..(jaws theme :p )

A plus to the weather is all the pretty flowers that are blooming!
Not sure what kind they are but they sure are gorgeous!

I'm really bad at updating this blog lol.
I think a part of it is because I've never been a journaler in the traditional sense, so it's hard for me to be one in the technological world as well.

In grade school all my friends had diaries so of course I had one, but I never wrote in any of them.
I just ended up doodling or if I did write it was like one sentence "today was good." or "I went shopping today" simple stuff haha.

I guess journaling is just not in my nature.
Something I have to make an effort to do, to remind myself to do.

I've sent out my latest update letter.
In it I go over my English classes, my choir and my current needs :)
Please take some time to check it out!

Well, well, well...I come here after all...

Wow, Can you say crazy month and a half? It's almost like I moved across the ocean or something O.O!
Oh wait....never mind..

Well, for all 4 of you who read this I'd like to give you a little update :).
I've been here since the 1st of December, and it has been..hmm..how can I put this..amazing, difficult, and oh yeah, amazing.

Of course it hasn't been easy, but what is? The things that have been difficult (living on my own, moving to a foreign country on my own, etc. ) have at the same time been some of the most freeing. I feel like I am already a different "Jessi" than the "Jessi" who landed here over a month a go.

There is no doubt in my mind that I am where God wants me.  The day after I arrived, I had my first English lessons. The other day, as I was teaching my elementary school kids, all I could think of was how insanely different things were now from day one(and believe me that's a good thing haha)!

God is doing some amazing things! Starting this January the "official" English classes began. Before that we were continuing where the last teacher left off and preparing to start a second day of classes in the new year.

Flyers were distributed all around the city advertising the new class dates. Each class (theres  9in total , 4 on Tues. and 5 on Fri.) has a limit of 6 students. I can't remember the exact number but it seems the majority are, or are coming close to being, maxed out! God is always bringing in new students! I'm really grateful for God's provisions with this English class.

The church I am at, called "Saikyo Nozomi Chapel", is a great church. They have such an awesome vision for serving God and really shining the light and love of Jesus Christ in the community, throughout Japan and the world. I'm so happy and blessed to be a part of such an awesome church. I really believe that God is working through Saikyo to do some great things for the Kingdom!

All in all things are going really great here :). I don't plan on every post being this long and lengthy but seeing as it's my first one since arriving I thought it best to get you all as caught up as possible ;).

Learning Japanese!

Time to buckle down and dive into the wonderful world of the Japanese language!
If I can manage to have the kind of self discipline it takes! haha.
